Our Shih Tzu are Angels!

Welcome to our little "Kingdom" of Shih Tzu.

This site is dedicated to our Shih Tzu, also known as the "Chrysanthemum-faced Dog". To know a Shih Tzu is to love and be loved by one. They are friendly, independent, affectionate, charming, extremely bright and a true and loving companion. They are happiest just being part of the family.

We acquired our first Shih Tzu from a wonderful show kennel in the mid '90s. A black and white female, Waggles is a wonderful, little girl who has enriched our lives and made us fall hopelessly in love with the Shih Tzu .

Showing Shih Tzu was the obvious next step for us but unfortunately Waggles had other ideas. After many trips out for socialization and classes she let us know that she was not happy and wanted to just be a homebody. At that point we had to consider what was in her best interest and so she became the matriarch of the house.

Waggles now lives as the queen of the house with my daughter and her husband in GA.

Our goal at MarTu Shih Tzu is to raise the best quality dog we can, always striving for the ultimate.
Our Shih Tzu are honestly represented, bred with intelligence and integrity to provide puppies with irresistible temperaments and genetic soundness.
We take great pride in matching the perfect puppy to the perfect home. We also take special care to mentor, support and educate our new families.

It is important to us that puppies are raised in a stimulating environment. All of my Shih Tzu live in the house with me and are an important part of my family. My puppies are calm and secure babies that are used to household noises and activities and are well socialized with my 13 year old son and the rest of my family. They all receive an abundance of attention, exercise and a measure of training while in our care.

Shih Tzu have a long life expectancy and it is important they spend a lot of time with their "human" friends, therefore a lot of thought should be taken before deciding to add one to your family. While they are the perfect breed for us, they may or may not be for you.

We are located in the heart of North Carolina about an hour from Raleigh off of Hwy. 421. We welcome any inquiries.
